Justification of significant contribution to the development of the relevant field of knowledge:   B.N. Kotiv scientifically substantiated and developed new methods of diagnosis and treatment of portal hypertension syndrome. B.N. Kotiv developed and implemented new variants of portocaval anastomoses and minimally invasive technologies. B.N. Kotiv justified, developed and implemented low-traumatic methods of treatment of common benign and malignant lesions of the liver, pancreas, and gastrointestinal tract. B.N. Kotiv proved the concept of the robot-assisted methods of surgical treatment for colorectal cancer, introduced original techniques of laparoscopic and robot-assisted operations for colorectal cancer and stomach cancer. B.N. Kotiv developed and implemented approaches to combined treatment of borderline resectable pancreatic head cancer. B.N. Kotiv carried out multidisciplinary scientific research on the regenerative abilities of the liver. B.N. Kotiv implemented the methodology for integral evaluation of functional reserves of the liver. B.N. Kotiv justified the implementation of simultaneous combined surgical interventions in synchronous liver and gastrointestinal tract lesions. With his direct participation, the concept of the departmental system of organ donation and transplantation in the military medical organizations of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation was developed, clinical liver and kidney transplantation was introduced and actively developed. Kirov.Professor B.N. Kotiv is the author of more than 500 published scientific works (Hirsch index – 9) including 8 monographs, 11 manuals and study guides, methodical guides and recommendations. Author of 14 patents and priority certificates for inventions. Professor B.N. Kotiv created scientific school: Director of 14 PhD and 4 doctoral theses. Currently, B.N. Kotiv directs 3 dissertation researches for the degree of PhD and 4 dissertation researches for the degree of doctor of medical sciences.
