Justification of significant contribution to the development of the relevant field of knowledge: The main scientific works (about 700 publications) are devoted to the problems of lung transplantation, methods of staging and surgical treatment of lung cancer, issues of functional operability in thoracic surgery, surgery of pulmonary emphysema, issues of hemodynamic disorders and the possibility of their correction in postembolic pulmonary hypertension and lung cancer, mediastinal surgery and researches in the field of phthisiosurgery. P.K. Yablonskiy studied the fundamental principles of different variants of respiratory transplantation, for the first time in the world implemented successful allotransplantation of the trachea (1991) and successful bilateral lung transplantation in the Russian Federation (2006);Scientific achievements:P.K. Yablonskiy developed and implemented the concept of the use of robot-assisted operations in the treatment of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis for the first time in the world practice;P.K. Yablonskiy established the Russian school of interventional pulmonology and the St. Petersburg school of endovideosurgery of chest organs.Organizer and Chairman of the working group of WHO on the development of methods of surgical treatment of tuberculosis and the creation of a consensus document on the role of surgery in the treatment of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (2014).Since 2009 – the initiator and organizer of the annual Congress of the European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons, and since 2010 – the initiator and organizer of the annual Congress of the National Association of Phthisiologists.Title “Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation” (2007), Laureate of the National Award for the best doctor of Russia “Prizvanie” (2009).
